non stop twitching
Discussion
Hi people,
This sounds stupid but please dont take the piss its genuine.
Ive not been to a doctor as i dont know what the hell to say but basically i have sort of voluntary/involuntary twitches, basically i twitch in different ways all day long but if i realise im doing it i can stop temporarily until i get distracted.
The kind of things i do are:
Bite my lip non stop
Non stop feel my nose on the outside
Non stop feel my pockets
Lean my head to the right by tensing my neck a lot
Weird repetitive movements of my fingers/hands.
I check some things about 10 times over and count in my head 1...2....3...1 ....2....3 over and over until i can say im happy its ok (whatever im checking)
Loads of other completely random things
I also suffer from bad brain fog where i just feel im dreaming all the time.
There are a few others but it is driving me absolutely insane and i dont know what to think or do about it.

Yknow how the myth of Tourette's Syndrome is that people with it involuntarily swear or shout out?
The reality is that 90% of it is what they call tics... twitches and repetitive movements of various sorts.
There are quite a few overlaps between OCD, Tourettes, Asperger's Syndrome, ADHD etc etc - enough so, that there's a reasonable theory that they're quite possibly slightly different manifestations of the same basic problem.
Is this something really new for you or have you done it to some degree (obviously worse under stress)! for a longer time?
Have a chat with your GP, they should be able to point you towards some more useful help/info - probably in two parts, working on coping with stress as well as possible, and then specifically about figuring out what's up and whether it can have anything done about it.

I agree with BVD. To me, it does not sounds like OCD at all. OCD is a compulsion to do something, i.e. wash hands, turn swicthes because you believe there is contamination/something bad will happen if you don't. Yours sounds like a involuntry twitch, jerk reaction which sounds more to me like terrets or autism (of sorts). Worth going to the GP. I went to see mine a few years ago, admittadly after being previously diagnosed, and she was great at getting me in the right direction for help (OCD).

You can have anxiety without being stressed.
I don't think it's necessarily anxiety related. Although anxiety may cause a nervous tick, the op has listed symptoms none of which directly indicate he is having issues with feeling anxious. You know when you're suffering from anxiety as it's a very strong, overbearing feeling which the op does not mention. TheBALDpuma said:
