Hi guys,
Hoping for some advice if possible.
Picked up a vantage 06 a few days ago....... And I am so glad I knew about this spot before doing so.
So... Pick up keys... Jump in and after the car is properly warm... Emissions service light comes on.
Pull over... Search piston heads.. Mind put at rest.
Few journeys later, that light resets itself... Great! Well I thought so.
After a quick tour around town with a friend (normal driving) I pull up at home and the following 'low battery' warning now comes on.

Fingers crossed it starts in the morning... Also the engine was quite 'whiney' until warm when cold started. And I suppose it is a bit chilly tonight.

Any advice?
Please?

Thanks in advance.. Keep the posts up, they are a great read for me personally.

Did the car come with a battery conditioner? If so, use it as the battery can be gradually depleted over a series of short runs. I had an emissions service message once soon after I bought my DB9 in 2010. It disappeared and never returned when I filled the tank with petrol.

Hi Sanj,
Battery may need conditioning or replacing, as has been said, they don't like short runs. The V8 has a multitude of ancillary bits that run off the motor and the belts are a bit whiney first thing - nothing to worry about, assuming it goes when up to temp. If it develops into a squeal, then the pulley tensioner may need replacing. Very common. Emission light, pah, happens all the time!
Hope this helps,
Bins

It's possible the whine noise at start is the oil pump, mine started doing that after a few month of ownership. Occasionally it would whine when cold at start and last for a few miles or until I stopped ( eg for petrol). If it is that again it's nothing to worry about as I did get the They All Do That answer.
Enjoy the car, and associated neurosis that goes with themsmile

Thanks all....
So battery conditioner.... I have no idea if one came with it. There is something in the boot above the fuse box (22 removed of course wink)
Failing that will a long run sort it out?
Or.... Can I get a battery conditioner from any halfords/euro parts etc?

Oh my god , the relief this morning at reading your replies!

Get a ctek conditioner. They are probably the best ones. I bought a ctek 5.0 for the noble and was about £53 from a shop on ebay.

I have an original AM conditioner that will plug straight into your car. PM me if you want it.

+1

The whiney sound is the oil pump / relief valve or something. They all do it, just drive it gently until it's warmed right up.

Emissions service light is common too. O2 sensors usually. One of these will sort it out - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Car-Fault-Code-Reader-Di...

An hour later and still no pictures. Maybe he's taking Simon's advice and driving rather than taking pictures. Or better still, driving somewhere nice to take pictures......

100 percent get a battery conditioner. Buy a ctek (the am official one is a ctek with an am logo on). You can order direct from the ctek website (or eBay). On my 9 more often than not warning lights, electric window, door mirror problems have all come down to the battery being a bit low on charge (now I just habitually connect the conditioner when I park the car up)

Get your battery swapped out. Use a Bosch or similar - much cheaper and do the job just as good. eBay throughs out a good set of results.

The Emissions light is just a pain that happens from time to time. If it keeps happening I would change the sensors. But don't do it until they stay on permanently… Mine has done it once in a few years over two Aston's and stayed on for a week.

If the Aston (CTEK) battery conditioner is missing the nearest equivalent is This one . You will also need a cigarette lighter lead.

My battery just went too (and up came the emissions warning) after sitting parked for four days. I presume a battery conditioner needs plugging in, so how do people without garages/driveways (e.g. if the car is parked on a London street) do this?

I've only owned my Vantage for a few weeks but if I'm going to need to call out the breakdown people every time I don't use it for a few days, that's probably a reason not to have the car at all, it seems quite odd.
