New Spyker dealer opens its doors
Spyker of Harrogate unveils UK-spec C8
Authorised Spyker dealer Spyker of Harrogate (UK), opened for business this week, and a silver right hand drive Spyker C8 Spyder was unveiled by Steve Williams, the proprietor of Spyker of Harrogate, the marque’s newest franchise and Victor Muller, CEO of Spyker Cars.
“Spyker has the looks, performance and class to be compared with the world’s best supercars” said Steve Williams of Spyker of Harrogate.
Spyker, manufactured in the Netherlands, was described as “an eye-catcher” in a Top Gear road test and its performance matches its looks. The car was also compared to a Van Gogh painting by Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson.
The distinctive Spyker logo consists of an aircraft propeller and a wire wheel, reflecting the brand’s heritage which has been carried over to contemporary Spykers. During World War I, Spyker built fighter aircraft, resuming car production after the war. In the early 1920s, its cars broke an endurance record and the Brooklands Double Twelve speed record. The company ceased trading in 1925 but the brand was not forgotten and has been rejuvenated with the new cars.
The new Spyker was founded in 2000 by Victor Muller and Maarten de Bruijn. It carries on the record of achieving distinction, with the Spyker C8 Spyder winning the 2000 award for engineering excellence from the Institute of Vehicle Engineers.
Steve Williams, proprietor of Spyker of Harrogate, said: “Spyker cars are all about passion – passion for power, style and craftsmanship. I am passionate about these cars and I am sure that many other people in the north will share my passion once they see a Spyker for themselves.”
The world premier of Spyker was held in the UK in 2000 when the Spyker C8 Spyder was first shown at the Birmingham Motor Show in 2000. Since then, the company has established a strong foothold in the supercar market niche.
Subsequent launches have included the Spyker C8 Laviolette in 2001, the Spyker Double12 in 2002 and the Spyker C8 Spyder T in 2003. Spyker's road version of the Le Mans Endurance racer, is on show at the Harrogate launch. The Spyker C8 Double12 R achieved its greatest victory so far in 2003, finishing 10th in class and 30th overall. Among the other Spyker cars on display is a right-hand drive version of the Spyker C8 Spyder
The Spyker launch coincides with the launch of DriveStyle and DriveStyle Connections, specialising in convertibles, by Steve Williams. The Spyker franchise and DriveStyle will operate from the same newly-opened showroom at Hornbeam Park in Harrogate, UK.

Not sure if they have sold any though as the ones I have seen don't appear to be production cars i.e. no roof! Very nice though Rich...
Spyker car does indeed come with a roof (coupe format). Gorgeous cars nonetheless.
I've spoken to the main man of Spyker (lovely chap), as was interested in becoming a distribution channel for them. However, they already had UK HQ, so it didn't appeal as much.
Still looking for a good venture if anyone knows any ...
