Been working on this for a while now.

About to start weathering it so thought I'd post a few pics up of the kit before I got busy .

Kit went together well and comes with a partial interior for the turret and crude engine.

I added some bits and bobs to the turret as well as fuel lines to the engine. Plan is when done to have it with engine hatch open as if its broken down.

Not sure about the track links on the roof. Idea is additional protection against aircraft (Normandy campaign. Need to do some more research

Nice. Good to see more variety in the models presented.

All done now bar getting a base sorted to display it on.

Done some research and this Tiger was part of ss panzer abteilung 101 and was knocked out on 27/8/1944 in Normandy.

The diorama it will be part of will show the tank awaiting repair in early August 1944.

That's a nice model with a lot of good details.

Personally I think it would benefit from a very light coat of Humbrol acrylic matt varnish, but each to his/her own.

I take it that would be airbrushed over?

Humbrol Matt or my favourite Tamiya Flat Varnish comes in a fine spraying aerosol for five or six quid (at my Local Model Shop)

It would transform a good model and make it excellent

which is just about all it needs

I've started to use Liquitex acrylic clear coats/varnishes now, available in gloss, matt and my particular favourite, satin flavours. Airbrushes very nicely.

No, as Perdu says it's a spray can - Humbrol Acrylic Varnish #49

I've had issues with matt varnish in the past (blooming or not really being matt), until I saw some AFV models at a show that looked great. I asked the modeller, and that's what he used (and what I've used since).

FWIW I always warm the can in a bowl of hot water for 15 minutes, and spray it in a warm environment. You only need the lightest mist coat and it dries almost instantly; just wave the spray past the model from about 8 inches away is all it needs. If you let it build up it can cause runs and/or dry satin.

Test it on an old model first to see if *you* like the effect, would be my main advice!

At the risk of...something: IIRC there are two Humbrol #49 sprays : Acrylic and enamel - you definitely should get the acrylic version. The Enamel version doesn't seem to dry as matt, and takes ages to dry. I bought some by mistake once.
