So, there's a crash damaged SV Roadsport on eBay for £7,500. It was worth having a look as the seller said that he'd already welded up the suspension arm mounts at the front etc and just needed a few suspension bits.

My caterham expert Steve went to view it this morning, 6 hour round trip from London to Wales wasted as the car is utterly knackered. It appears to have straddled something as the gearbox is hanging out and destroyed, plus the rear cage (chassis) is split in half to such an extent that it can't be welded back anything close to straight. It needs, gearbox, chassis, suspension arms, De Dion tube, uprights etc. Plus it's a Cat B.

It would have been nice to have had a more representative description else we'd not bothered doing to see it and wasting 6 hours and £60's worth of fuel.

If its a cat B it cant go back on the road with its existing registration. its basically a parts car. I think the pics show that.

I have bought several write off's to rebuild and typically you will always find more damage than you first think once you start to tear it apart.

They may well have welded up suspension arm mounts but this is probably so that it could be moved not intended as the final solution, any so called welding of chassis mounts should be properly done on a jig to get proper alignment by somebody who knows what they are doing and can demonstrate some sort of competence.

Yes, I got most of that, thanks, I was hoping that it was almost close to how he describe it. It was like a different car!
