This is a bit of a strange request but would anyone be able to snap a picture of their AM branded tire repair kit and send it my way? I recently used mine and when my car was in for service I told the dealer to just leave it as I would recharge the kit myself.

The kit in my car when I picked it up looks like the generic Continental one, not the original AM one which I wanted to keep to have all original pieces together with the car. I recall their being an AM logo on the original kit which is nowhere on the one in my car now. Any picture verifying this would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you all for your help

There's a replacement date on it that should narrow it down.

Good point, I took a look and it definitely is not the kit that came with my car... This one has a replacement date of 04/17 whereas the kit I had was earlier than that.

I think that is right. I just wanted to verify that there is Aston branding on the kit that came with the car- not simply the normal Continental one.

You may be right thinking about it mine was replaced due to age on my previous Vantage I simply swapped them over when I bought my current car.

+1

I've kept mine post sale and it is a useful generator for inflating all sorts of things whistle

I have no intention of using the gunk as I'm informed that the tyre cannot be repaired afterwards.

Aston Martin do not recommend plugging punctures and I never met a Dealer who would do it - so I used a trusted Indy nearby.

One word of caution. If your gunk has passed its use-by date and you put your car in for a service at a Dealer they are within their rights to replace it and charge you handsomely for doing so. I always removed it beforehand smile

Is it,

A) Sensible to have an (accesory shop) generic inflator in the car?
Then if a puncture occurs, the original kit would remain untouched.

B) If an inflator is in the car (but out of date) at an MoT test, does that constitute a fail?

C) Wise never to repair a puncture on a performance car?

Jon - trying to watch X Factor here rolleyes

I'm sure TonyV12V will educate us on the MOT point, though I think I know the answer in the negative ??

As for the repair, a plug will only work in a certain part of the tyre and it must be done properly - including sanding the interior of the tyre and hoovering up the dust particles smile

Put the glass down when you are going for a handful of nuts.

That will avoid the DTs

I'm pretty sure the inflator in my 06 DB9 had some kind of Aston logo on it because when I was looking for a replacement I was told about the Conti kit being identical. If it had Conti on it, I would've known from the get go that I could buy a replacement from Conti.

That being said, the inflator in my 09 DBS, which has never been used, has no Aston markings on it whatsoever, just like in the photos above. Wouldn't surprise me if Aston stopped the practice of branding these since people would just go out and get a Conti kit any way.

Could be you did have an Aston-branded unit, but maybe now all of the replacements are not so branded. I did find it interesting that they are branded with Ford's logo, however: FoMoCo

Same here on the 09 DB9, Steve - exactly the same as the picture above. The Battery Conditioner did have an AM logo, being the original CTEK Swedish one smile

Bone question.
Where does the tyre inflator live in the DB9? Is it behind some of the trim into the boot? I have found the fuse box and pulled fuse 22 but have had no luck finding the tyre inflator.
