During the summer Tesco own ready mixed stuff is fine, but not great in winter conditions. Any recommendations?

Add some Methylated Spirit to the screenwash?

Halfords usually has some decent stuff, 5 liters goes to -20 but expensive at £7. Go to lidl instead laugh

The same stuff that was recommended this time last year; it's from Lidl.

I just bought this.....

Thought it was a pretty good deal, free postage and should last a while....

Aldi and Lidl are brilliant for winter car care stuff, most of it's German, and they know one or two things about freezing your tits off in, on or around a car.

Put some Gtechniq g1 on this morning, not technically a screen wash but was impressed at how it handled a horrible downpour this afternoon.

VAG (Skoda/Seat/VW/Audi etc) screenwash works down to -70oC and I've never found anything to beat it. My local main stealer sell 2x 1 litre bottles for a fiver. Even well diluted it works out quite cheap and will handle anything a severe British winter can throw at it comfortably. Once I switched to this stuff I've never had frozen pipes and reservoir since, even in the -20 snow we had the other year. It's a decent cleaner too.

This time of year I start thinking about putting neat screenwash in. It's extravagant to do it so early, but I like the smell. smile

It was missing a wink so I'd assume not. I do add a squirt of washing up liquid to screenwash but only to reduced the smear effect not as a substitute for it

This was a fun thread on a number of levels

20L of the Lidl stuff in my garage. Good to -60 when neat which does the job when you consider wind chill on top of the coldest days in winter.

Get down there it was about 2 weeks ago they had it there may be some left.

A couple of cap fulls of liqid sugar soap. Gives a perfect clear screen.

Try it.

Lidl stuff here too, bought three, two for me, one for parents.

Not always easy to find, in my local one they were still in the plain white boxes (3 to a box), not much in the way of advertising in store, the only clue was being next to the big tubs of rock salt.

Good stuff!

PS I always make a strong solution of above screenwash in an empty trigger bottle and keep it in the boot, doesn't roll about as much as a de-icer tin.
