I have just replaced the webers in my Élan plus. 2.

I had assumed, since the pump is less than a foot from the carbs, that cranking it over a few times would be enough to get fuel to the carbs.

Nope.

I assume I need to put some fuel in the bowls and get it running on that to pet the pump going enough to fill the lines?

Your pump must be pretty weak if it can lift fuel up to the carbs on the starter motor.

What sort of pump ?

And depends what you mean by a few times ? But the pump should be capable of priming itself within a short space of time via starter cranking.

It can take a surprisingly long time to fill up dry carbs, more than a few seconds anyway. Give it a good long blast.

No doubt I made a wiring error - installed accuspark black box and Electronic ignition.

Got 12v to the black box. Earth is good. 12v at the coil.

I will re-check all the wiring tomorrow to see where I messed up.
