From memory this was on eBay earlier in the year, had a starting bid price of £5000 but no one bid and it never sold

A bit OT:

How the hell did he make the window frames fit the door hole, any M's I have seen (my own included) do the gap around the frame vary form nothing to almost 1"

Mine seem pretty even all the way round, what do you mean?

hmmmm, I can't see how to adjust it. The door fit nicely, but as you see, do the windowframe miss some hight at the rear corner / or it's too high above the triangle where it allmost hit the shell

Thanks Adrian, when the doors go to the paint shop will I try to remove the 1/4 glass and have a look at how to adjust.

MY method for adjusting the frames could not be put into print...I believe that the earlier the M the better the fit of things, in that the buck that the shell and bonnet moulds were from, was good and true and then the evolution to later versions has a dilution of that, because they are a copy of a copy (obviously, that was the way they did it), things like door frames rely on the skill of the fitter (as a child I remember a visit to the Jaguar factory, where I saw the body shop guys using 2"x 2" wood levers to tweak E-type doors to 'adjust' the fit).
Once the 1/4 light glass is removed the frame is very flexible, the inner supports not only adjusts the 'rake' to fit against the door seal, but tilt angle forward and backwards, ALSO the rain gutter can be shimmed away from the shell and as such moved closer to the frame.
Adrian@
A friend who visited Crewe reported the same method for adjusting the doors.

Best,
B.

It was common. I worked for Chrysler / Talbot / Peugeot-Citroen in the 1970s and the plank was a station on the assembly lines.

He paid £6199 for it. That'll be a healthy return.
