I drove off with the locking nut on the wheel nut and lost it! The nuts are sunk down about inch and a half into the alloy wheel. The locking nut is female design with a male "key".

anyone got any tips how to remove?!

Locking wheel nut removal sockets - depends on what type of locking wheel bolt you've got though

The answer to this depends entirely on the type of locking nut and the amount of clearance between the nut and the bolt hole.

Without pictures it'll be hard to make suggestions.

This happened to my Dad. He ended up just buying a new locking wheel nut key thing from the dealer. It was cheaper than potentially screwing up the wheel or hub assembly.

Surely look in the car gumph you have for the key code. then pop slong to the main dealers and get a new one. That's what I did when mine broke on the A5.

And if you haven't got the gumph, then go along to the dealer anyway. They have a toolkit full of them. Pretty sure they'd find your code.

Why don't we just let everyone know how to remove a locking wheel nut, it then defeats the object of having them.
If anyone knows the answer, I would suggest you PM the op.

Everyone who's thinking about pinching an alloy has a method to remove them already.

If it's a female type buy a big allen key/bit and hammer that in, then use a cheater bar.

Most people know how to remove locking wheels nuts but not everyone has the right tools to do it. They are pointless if someone wants alloys they will get them.

Better of getting tuner style wheel nuts with a multispline torx bit inside that will stop most people with a normal socket set trying to pinch them although nothing is bullet proof.

Spend most of your Saturday morning driving around to different dealers until you find one with a master key set that will work with your set. I've had to do this twice now (Mini and Ford) and have then had to buy a new locking set each time as I had punctures that needed repairing. £80 in total on new locking wheel nuts frown Was the first thing I checked when I got my next car, not going to be burned that way again.

Thanks for that - says it is used by the AA and RAC.

I'll get a puncture and then ask the AA to remove the wheel for me! And while there are there I'll ask very nicely if they can remove the other too (only 2 of the wheels have locking nuts) and then I can replace with normal nuts, as I have these in the car.

Thanks for the replies!
