OK - fuel line sizes/lengths question
Discussion
Right Chim fuel tank is out and everything cleaned. As I thought, pipes from tank to pump and also the return pipe behind the tank are old and showing signs of degradation.
The feed pipe looks about 12mm ID. The return looks about 10mm ID.
Is that correct?
Also, what length of pipe will I need to do the whole lot including in the engine bay (they have been replaced by PO but again unmarked and just noticed some signs the front pipes are being affected by heat)
What replacement fuel lines are preferred by folks and where is best supplier as I'll need to get something ordered up. There are no markings on the pipes.
Many thanks

OK cheers, 12mm feed and 8mm return.
I can see now what I need lengthwise for the feed from tank to the pump and the last bit of return back to the tank.
Any idea of the lengths from the pump to the engine and return from the engine??
I've seen SAE J30 R9 but the supplier says they only sell it in six inch lengths
There is I believe R10 as well.
Again any known suppliers that people on the forum have used please?
Thanks.

Hmm, it's strange you mention that because I had another look at the tank connections to-day and thought the connection of the feed pipe to the tank wasn't wonderful, particularly with a well rusted jubilee clip although it doesn't take any pressure at that point. Probably will weld on a Sytec type connection with LMA clip for a leak free future. I'm not sure about SS all the way.
I've emailed Advanced Fluid Solutions in Essex and Automotive Fuel Hoses in Royston and Demon Tweeks enquiring about R9 EFI hoses/clips etc on Thursday morning and not a dicky bird yet. Will wait patiently.
Thanks for the trickle of useful information and ideas coming out on this one.

I've measured the length of the return pipe from the back of the tank to its first connection point against the rear chassis rail as 600mm long.(marked odd size of 7mm)
The feed from the tank to the pump is just two short pieces of about 100mm length with the copper piece in between. (12mm but no-one I've spoken to yet does that size!)
Now my real question is.... does anyone know anything about the hoses which run from the roll over valve in the boot to the carbon cannister and/or back to the filler neck or inlet manifold? Are they one long line or are they jointed and if so where? (I don't have the luxury of a ramp)
Lastly, would it not be possible to join the hoses in the boot and make the connections to and from the carbon cannister redundant? (It's a pre-cat engine)
Thanks again

I will check out where I got my 12mm pipe from when I get home tonight, I thought it was Demon Tweaks but may be wrong. The hoses to and from the carbon canister are not joined, at least they wernt on mine when I took them out.Now my real question is.... does anyone know anything about the hoses which run from the roll over valve in the boot to the carbon cannister and/or back to the filler neck or inlet manifold? Hi Roseytvr,
So the hoses from the boot to the carbon cannister were one piece? No joins? Any idea how long that was when you did it?
I'm waiting a call back from DT but I'm finding other suppliers are very happy sell me hoses and saying 'yeah it'll be fine' yet there's no markings on their hoses or if there is it's R6 and nothing to indicate suitability for high pressure applications.
I'm just very windy about doing this job with 'fish pond' pipes.
Cheers.

Junk it and fit small K&N air filter (breather) ,then terminate it at the side of the diff .There no good to anyone with an after market ecu.So the hoses from the boot to the carbon cannister were one piece? No joins? Any idea how long that was when you did it?
