Greetings folks,

I currently own a TVR S3 which I find comfortable to drive however have always loved the shape/look of the Wedge 400SE...however slight problem...being a bit of a freak of nature at 6'6 ins tall I struggle to get in a 400SE and feel ok about driving due to lack of leg room, even though the steering wheel adjusted. Apart from having a smaller steering wheel has anybody done any major seat changes for extra room?

Kind regards

Peter Wheeler was 6'7" if I'm not mistaken?

I'm 6'3" and don't find it too bad, headroom is good with the roof off smile

I tried a lovely 350i which was near impossible to operate the pedals due to the lack of leg room, the 400SE I sat in was a little better as had an adjustable steering wheel but still too cramped to operate any pedals. Has anyone moved the pedals back? Or if a pig of a job just put thinner or completely changed the seats to gain space?

Regards

The previous owner of mine was about 6'3 6'4 and managed okay, I am 6,2 and manage perfectly. I also remember somebody, going back aways, talking about moving the pedal box for such a height, but can't remember who that was now.

I'm not sure how you could move the pedal box without some GRP work: you could maybe move it up or down a bit but not further away owing to the fact that the footwell is shaped around the pedal box!

i;am a good 6ft, and there;s lot;s off room for me .maybe take the pedel box, cut them down some what,to lower the pedel;s ,or maybe put a seat in the driver;s only with a thinner back, nothing would stop me driving my wedge, i would go and my legs cut down a few inch;s,idea

If you fitted the original seats from the Mk 1 Lotus Elise, then you would fit.

In case you're wondering what I'm talking about, here is one:

6'5" and managed to get in the 450SE without too much of a problem. Yes- it's true it was cosy but not a massive problem.

I guess that extra inch makes all the difference.

I'm best part of 6ft and never had any issues in my 280i, even with the roof up (very rarely, but occasionally when I have too much stuff in the boot or it rains heavy, I have driven it in sub zero with the top down as it was a dry day) I have plenty of leg and head room. its one of the few cars that I don't feel the need to put the seat most or all of the way back.

I'm not sure if the leg room got shorter in the later cars or not but always found plenty in my 280i, if I sit in the passenger side I can barely touch the bulkhead without moving the seat forward.

I was too under the impression that the car was designed with "taller" people in mind.

I'm not sure I understand this statement... wasn't the Tasmin first built in the Martin Lilley era...so why would it have been built to suit tall people?

Was that in the same section as "Air Guitars" and "Silver Nixies"?
