whenever I look through the classified on ph or autotrader(website, iphone app or the mag) each time theres always something in there that I really want. the cars I really would love to own are, ford focus RS, Fiesta ST (current generation) Ginetta G40R Lotus Elise S2 (doesnt matter which one) Mazda MX5 (owned one previously) Mercedes C63 AMG Renault Clio RS 200 Cup (last generation not current) VW golf GTI/R32 I could be here all day listing what I really want to own. I currently have finance on a Renault Twingo 133 RS which I've owned for a year now and its a great car to drive but its not something I would go on a sunday drive on the country roads. I really want rid of it but I know now it would be a pain in the arse to do so but one can only dream. frown

so is it just me that each day there's always something else I want to own or am I mad? lol

Fairly sure the "What car have you been obsessing over today" has hundreds of pages explaining your exact dilemma. Expect the "Oh look, another one of these threads" comments to start popping up.

Yes, I guess it is normal. I am not so old but I have been obsessed with cars since I can remember, so almost 30 years, and this also got worse becasue there are always more appealing cars to buy. With some attention cars 30 years old can be found and ran with not great effort and they can still deliver a lot of fun. I mean, I still desire many cars I wanted before and now many others.

when I got one of the dream cars I listed, I was over the moon with it but always in the back of my head I always wanted something else for another occasion and so on and so forth so I better start playing the lottery for that to happen

I would regard you as either slightly odd or a non-petrolhead if you thought otherwise.

I find that as I get older my bucket list gets longer, but presumably I will have less time left to work through it. Or is that just me?

Yes, time to search, buy, drive and enjoy a car is a very big issue. Sadly work takes the largest part and in the rest, as much I love cars, there are also other things from social life to physical activities and travels.

That's why becaue in recent years I try harder to appreciate some cars I desire asking test drives at dealers and even hiring. I also have to thank some wealthier petrolhead friend. Hiring sportscars is expensive and so I generally wanted to avoid it saving for a purchase but sometime is easier and simply worth the money. It is not like owning a car obviously, that is a lot more deep relationship...

Good grief.

However, nothing strange about what you are doing. I yearn after different cars on a weekly basis!

the big question of the week as it is every week, what will i find that I yearn to have?

but I know everything comes down to the boring business of cost but hey ho we can only dream on or win the lottery.

Im really happy with my car and i have been for close to 6 years, it still makes me smile and is very fun to drive... yet...

When someone on PH mentions a car or i see a what car and a few models mentioned its straight to ebay etc to look at how much they go for !

mmmmm C63, on my list too.

If you keep buying rapidly depreciating cars on finance then you'll probably never realise your dream/aim of owning those vehicles.

Sit tight. Save up. Avoid finance.

I can look through most classifieds and be filled with minor want. Which I can deal with.
But every so often I am filled with full-blown WANT. This can involve massive expense, neglect of loved ones and driving the length of the British Isles at short notice. I know it's destructive but every week I push my luck tongue out

That's an interesting point and one that I don't think we've discussed on here before.

Agreed!!! "Look at the shiny shiny!"

Have no need for another car, but know in the not too distant future i will be replacing one eventually, but cant help when someone mentions a model, scouring the ads/Ebay etc then collating a massive watchlist on cars i have no need for right now! (And more than likely will have changed my mind in less than 24hrs to another manny fagnet!)

Seriously? That's what those cars were made for and where they really shine.

133's are rare, cooler than a polar bears toe-nails and a riot to drive.
