I have a slight problem in regards to my car, its in a body shop in Edinburgh, and the MOT expires this Wednesday. It will probably be still in the garage by then.

Main problem is that I still have my de-cat manifold attached and don't have the tools required to fit the standard one back on.

Is there anyone in the Edinburgh area that would be able to help me with fitting the standard one back on? Or know anyone that would? Happy to pay them money or whatever.

Will the bodyshop not do it for money or whatever? biggrin

Does this need to be done at the bodyshop? - are they ok with some randoms turning up and working on cars at their premises?

Where is it?

Does the car need to be on a lift to change the pipe?

I'm sure I should be able to think of more questions, but that'll do for now....

Its Willowbrae Coachworks, so doubt they'd be cool with some kid coming in and using their tools. They're also very busy frown

Book an MOT for the day you pick the car up, it's ok to drive the car on road as long as you've pre booked an MOT.
Then either drive to the MOT place via home to change the exhaust or get them to change it before MOT'ing it.

Good idea, just trying to find an MOT station that won't rape my wallet for the hours of labour changing the manifold. Took it to FWR Garage before which took nearly 4 hours.

You don't have to have an MOT booked, just have the car booked into a garage for work it needs for the MOT.

So you can quite legally book it in somewhere, drive the car from bodyshop to garage and then onto wherever you are getting the MOT done.

Are you changing the manifold so it passes the MOT?

I'am yes. Assuming it won't pass the emissions test.

Surely theres a limit too how long you can drive after the MOT expires?

No, as long as its booked into the garage, you can drive it there. How else are you going to get it repaired?

Theres me thinking the worst...thought I'd need to get a low loader or trailered haha. Assuming thats when it does't have tax.

You cant tax it without an mot so if you need to drive it to the garage, then thats fine as long as you're only driving there and its already booked in.

I know a bit obvious but just make sure it's insured.
