Another jumper on the Itchen bridge

Surely they should shut the river, not the bridge?.......
Haha, good idea.Anybody see that vid from Japan (I think) where a jumper had held up traffic for two hours until a motorist climbed up to him, shook his hand and promptly pushed him off? Funny as. Fortunately, police had set up airbags for him to land on.

I've just been watching out of my bedroom window, with my binoculars. He's just climbed back over onto the bridge. Another time waster

You would not believe how many there are we deal with... and I think, out of the tens we have attended, only one's ever actually done it this year.
Long and short of it is, if they're gunna do it, they'll just do it... not just call us and say they're going to. Attention-seeking a

If you were going to do it, would you just do it quietly without anyone knowing, or tell literally everyone in the vicinity and see what happens? I know one of them who threatened it, and deal with him quite a lot. There's no way he'll do it, he just does it because he 'gets bored'... in his words.

holes.
There are obvious mental health issues here, not many sane people do this type of thing. If you are the one doing the rescuing, you should be ashamed of yourself.Long and short of it is, if they're gunna do it, they'll just do it... not just call us and say they're going to. Attention-seeking a

Unfortunately we have dealt with the fallout of a lot of mental health workers being disbanded, and we are seeing this pattern emerging more and more. It's incredibly frustrating. With regards to a few of the 'boredom' ones, they have little else to do... which leaves them with trying to find attention in ever increasingly dramatic ways. I wasn't being intentionally flippant in the first instance, it has the 'boy who cried wolf' effect written all over it... it ends up devaluing the plight of those genuinely in need of help who get overlooked because of the attention seekers. If that makes some kind of sense..?
Last year I was walking over to the bridge pub in Woolston, at about Christmas time. A guy casusaly strolled past me and went over the central spar. He didn't say a word, just went. I thought it was a wind up, but no, he did it
. It took about a week for his body to wash up in the marina below.

I've never understood why jumping off a bridge kills you though. I've jumped off some really high things into water, sometimes headfirst. I didn't die once.
How do you know you didn't die? Some faiths believe that you don't die but flick seamlessly into another existence...You're more likely to die accidentally falling off a chair than you are deliberately falling off a bridge, statistically.
