Seconded - send a copy to the local cops near where it happened, reg is easily readable if you pause it on 1080P, bet if you go frame by frame from the original and then do a bit of photos enhancement you can get a photo of him/her (Tax Disk check says it is correctly registered and in tax so easy to track down, personalised plate as well !).
At least two violations - overtaking on double white lines and also on a bend, probably breaking the speed limit as well. Needs to be given a strong talking to by Mr. Plod.
Interesting it was a 4x4 - my old car (fury) was rear ended by one at a traffic lights, hmmmmm!

That's a double white line 3 points (which is the max, but of course the fine can be anything)
But wouldn't it be dangerous driving as well?

Details sent to Sussex Police, we'll see what they say.
Going by the vid there was time to hit the brakes & drop back behind the Disco / horsebox.
They chose not to.
For me, that's the real sin. I'm sure most of us have made ill-advise overtake attempts, but this driver CHOSE to continue when they could see me coming.

There's no real excuse for overtaking on double whites, and on a blind bend the manoeuvre was completely mad
The only time you can overtake on double whites is past farm tractors or vehicles travelling less than 15 mph AND when it's safe, ie you can SEE
Bikes bend this law of course, but cars just cannot

Agreed it was a crazy (not to mention illegal) place to attempt an overtake, but being generous, I have no idea how slowly the horsebox was going. That's why I say that pushing on with the manouvre in the face of oncoming traffic is the unforgivable bit.Whe I looked last night the video had 450 veiws in two days, so word's spreading.

Crazy crazy a-hole! There was clearly no need to do that...it isn't as though you were speeding either...not that would have been an excuse, you never know the person could have just pulled out in front of him etc...but he clearly hadn't left you any room.
Chalk it up to part luck and part skill! Well done for not getting target fixation but rather looking for a way out. Many more would have just hit the brakes and had a head on! Good example on how to react to many others

Thanks for the link. Interesting that it's got round a few forums now, most posters are shocked at the poor decision making on the part of the 4x4, but on blattchatt the conversation distils down to those criticising me for posting it, & those criticising me for hitting the horn instead of steering. I'd done the whole steering thing, two wheels were over the side line, I knew the 4x4 was going past rather than over, from my point of view I could see what was going to happen from some way back & had taken the appropriate action - at least all I could do at that point. As for why post, well, I posted it just so the guys in the club could see what happened on the way home, nothing more, the fact it's gone viral (3,500 views in 4 days) suggests others think it was a close call too. I reported it because so MANY kit drivers told me I ought to - & they were right. When I got home I was F***ing angry, the 4x4 came within a foot or so of hitting my car (the camera is right over the passenger side) - in which case it would not've been me posting on YouTube, it would've been the police taking the footage out of the tangled wreckage & sending the 4x4 driver down for causing death by dangerous driving. The 4x4 driver had time to brake & pull back in behind the horse box - they chose not to, the Fury's bright yellow & has DRLs on the front, so they either saw me - or weren't looking - or didn't care, 'cos they're in a big chunky 4x4 & can do what they like. Feel free to copy this into Blattchat so they know. Ta
