problems opening pictures in RAW

Have recently started shooting in RAW.after uploading them i'm now unable to open them.Cmera is a Canon EOS500 and have photoshop elements 10,nver had problem whilst using JPEG

Does Adobe Camera Raw launch when you open the file?

JPG is universal, RAW is not - every camera produces a different kind. Hence you need to have the right software/plugins/updates to handle RAW files for your camera model.

as the latest RAW is 8.2
