Part exchanging a car

Just out of curiosity as I just put my car up for sale, I was wondering if a dealer (not main dealer) would take my car in for a part exchange on a car thats worth less? I've recently purchased a Land Cruiser and want to sell my 5 series and get a Subaru Forrester thats worth less than mine.... Obviously I will be getting trade in value. Its just I saw a car that I quite fancy
