Sounds like it! I've got a kuro, it's 5 years old and still better than most of the tvs on the market now!

'Exclusively licenced by Dixons....'

Oh dear. Built to a budget either using cheap screens priced as a premium product or priced as a high end product using middle of the road panels. It won't end well.

My Kuro 5090 is still be to bettered, I have not seen anything to compare with them yet. Panasonic was getting there but now they are also going. Will have to wait for OLED i think before replacing.
The new Pioneers will not be special

Agree with others, still more than happy with my KRP-500. I often have a look at newer stuff when out and about and tbh other than getting lured in and being amazed at how thin the things are getting the actual picture quality is atrocious.

Nothing remotely out there comes close (ignoring 4K) and sounds like new Pioneer badged offerings wont change that thought.

I'm at the stage of needing a new telly soon, my 2005 pioneer is getting a bit temperamental so sooner or later it's going to pack in. Question is what to get.? I want a bigger screen 55inch so looking at either a vt65 or a sony w905 anyone got either of these? My concerns with both are the sony struggles with the football and the Panasonic is bad for image retention( do a bit gaming and watch sky sports)

Thought about a later pioneer but the footprint is much bigger than a modern 55 due to the edging and won't fit the wall correctly.

Nearly had a small 'man wee' when I saw the headline. Have had my PDP-43 for seven years now. Stunning piece of kit, even when the media box failed at 6 years old, Pioneer replaced the PCB for free (home call too). Really didn't want to bit the bullet on a 4K yet.
Somehow, not convinced Dixons could follow in Pioneers messiah like visual production.

Having a keen eye for quality and having spent the thick end of £10,000 on Pioneer plasmas, having DSG stick the Pioneer logo on their bargain basement tat, makes me cry inside. frown

I presume these are not plasma but led/oled or similar (ie NOT plasma)?

So DSG will be doing all the work and Pioneer will just keep an eye on them and stick their name on it?

Oh dear, oh very, very dear.

Pioneer have a fantastic reputation for TV's and this bleeds over into them being thought of in a very positive way by the AV buying public. If this turns into the disaster I'm assuming it will if DSG have anything to do with it, then that will be trashed. I hope DSG are paying them sufficient cash to make that worthwhile...

I imagine this well just be a re-badged version of some other TV. Dixons motivation is probably that if they have an exclusive on it then they have more pricing power....i.e. if nobody else sells it then they can't be put into competition with online or other retailers.
