part of me wants to decry 'madness' ! the other part realises that I am an old Ford fan, and many of those models have baffling (not quite VW) values also

I don't get the Type 2 prices, hence why I bought a T25 air cooled camper. Maybe in another 10 years it might start climbing in value???

Should have kept my VW Devon Moonraker, still showing on the insurance data base, XAY 264S as being insured.

And around £50,000 shocks you? This one sold nearly two years back. And I went and cast an eye over one three years back, identical 21 window in original condition that had spent the majority of its life in a museum, and acquired it for someone for £25,000 which even then I thought was crazy.

reading the start of the post, I was going to say that the cost of restoration counts into it a lot, these vans do cost a lot to restore, BUT, if its got rust showing through, then it WASN'T a restoration, it was a quick tart and bodge up, which maybe "wheeler dealers" on tv would describe as a "restoration"!

First 'car' I owned was a late bay window Microbus, when I was 18. Bought from a mate with 3 weeks MOT for £400. It had 8 seats, two sunroofs, and drove for st. If I wanted something similar again, I would buy a T4 with nice disc brakes, power steering, reliability, and save a whole wad of cash over another T2. I just cannot understand why someone would spunk a big chunk of cash on one of these.

I just so wish I had kept it now, mine was a 2000cc engine. Mine has cheepo plastic snap on wheel trims from Halfords.

Samba's are either 21 or 23 windows, the 23 window being the earlier of the 2.

Bus prices are crazy, but then they're a 'lifestyle' vehicle and seem to be in tv adverts and marketing left right and centre so have attracted buyers that aren't in to the VW 'scene'. For an air cooled VW fan, I really don't like them
