Been thinking I should update the riding stable so to speak. I have a few cars at the mo, and to be fair most of them came from Ebay, and cost less than £200 - so you get the picture.
So, Volvo 1.9d V40 150k. Terrible to drive (the steering is fantastically vague), but good for camping trips, and going to the tip, and putting engines in, and so on.
Pug 406 260k miles, the Mrs drives that, and is actually pretty OK.
BMW E39 530d, lovely car to drive, especially on motorways. (Did spend more than £200 on that though)
Finally, an ancient Isuzu trooper, 3.1d that will still be running after the ice caps melt, and Africa has bumped into Europe.

So, I don't really need a car, it will only be driven every now and again. I can afford to maintain it, own garage, but quite clearly want it to be a drivers machine, and not ruinously expensive to run / maintain.
So, what car should it be.

Budget in line with all things stingy, about £1000 - £1500 tops. Hence Mark 3 MR2.

Appreciate the budget is, ahem, challenging, but hell, what's life without a challenge.

Somehow, I don't really fancy an Mx5, but go on, roll with it, and see what the collective suggests.

That will only get you the very tattiest of MR2 Roadsters. You might not think that a car with looks like that would attract 'the wrong crowd', but you'd be wrong! So expect some horrendous Halfords stick on parts and an early car with high miles, patchy service history and pre-cats.
