Would have quite liked to see him as stand in for the final couple of rounds in the Lotus. May not have been as sharp but in that car he would have done a job for sure.

I read that earlier and was very surprised, not only because he wouldn’t come cheap, and if they haven’t paid Kimi a single Euro all year how could they pay Schuey? but also that Renault would agree to it, given Michael’s role at Mercedes and the access a Lotus drive would give him to their engine mapping and other ‘black arts’.

Given the radical changes due in F1 next year I dont think giving away any secrets from this years car would be a great loss.

Being cynical I would suggest they asked Schumacher purely to get the publicity from being able to announce they had asked him. Its a win win for both Lotus and Schumacher in terms of publicity.

Lotus would have known there was no chance but the column inches gernerated from the question are worth more than the money received from Quantum so far!

You've got to give them top marks for marketing, look how many column inches and debate they've generated just confirming than they asked but he refused. :-)

Would have been good to see the guy back in a car doing what he loves, too bad it hasnt happened and wont.

I miss the 'new' Michael to be honest, the guy who seems a lot more happier and at ease doing what he loves simply for the joy of it.

This is what its all about and why its hard to ever truly know what deals are being done behind the scenes.

I bet some of the goings on would be a bit surprising.

Indeed. Losing a star driver (even if Grosjean has often been more convincing than Kimi recently) wouldn't look good to the marketeers at Burn and Rexona. The Schuey story has generated more coverage than the on-track results this year. Good work from the Lotus PR team.
