After many years of faithful service, our PS3s SCART slot as died, so we've had to upgrade to HDMI. The graphics are now brilliant, but the sound doesn't work.

I guess that isn't meant to happen, so what do I do to fix it?

Have you run through the sound setup on the console since changing cables?

It will need telling you want to output sound through your HDMI.

Depending on quality of the TV speakers, normally well worth connecting audio directly from the ps3 to a HiFi as TV speakers tend to be poor.

Because A) Scart has always been good enough, and B) didn't have a hd tv until recently...

Don't have a HiFi system, but noted for future use.

As soon as you got the HDTV you should have been slotting an HDMI cable in! It's like buying a Ferrari and then slipping a brick under the accelerator pedal so you can only use 20% of its travel.

The important thing is that you're all sorted now.

Funny you should say that, just spent the past hour and a half driving Ferraris on GT5... Massive improvement in both graphics and sound.
