Serious WTAF moment.

I was driving from work to my place at 06:00 this morning.

My view.

His view.
The road is two lanes wide, and one way. As I came around the corner, I was faced with someone coming straight towards me, with no lights on. How I avoided the twunt, I will never know
. He had; no lights on, must have driven through a red light ( owing to the fact the lights at the junction ahead were green in my favour), and ignored two f
k off great big no entry signs. For anyone who knows the area, it was at captains place / dukes keep, heading towards dock gate 4, in Southampton. I was coming past the Itchen / central bridge junction. ETA I was driving towards where the photo was taken from, from the road in top left of photo.

Ouch! Yep know this junction well, live not far away.
I've also come across the front of another car facing me on a one-way street before, thankfully without incident. Whatever the reason for the other driver's mistake, it just re-inforces the fact that you should never drive faster than you can stop safely in the road space in front of you, and always expect the unexpected!
Down by the docks in Southampton, or indeed in any dock-side city, you need to think about foreigners that have just landed in the UK from abroad, who are used to driving on the right in their home country, no?

Thought that junction looked familiar in the pics and then read the end of the post about the location.
5 years back I went to look at a Renault 5 GT Turbo that was for sale near there and I had to go through that junction on the test drive. Thankfully I didn't have anyone heading straight for me, but I do remember the owner of the 5, who was a taxi driver, telling me to be careful as he normally saw it at least once a day when he was ferrying people about.

At 2a.m. I drove round a roundabout to find a foreign registered HGV coming at me the wrong way. It was in Taunton, nowhere near docks. Luckily, like to OP, I survived but it was in pre-internet days so no one ever knew about it - until now.
Well then I'd set up a dedicated website about that then, if I were you

Some folk don't even notice the third lane (plus cycle lane) in that two-lane, one-way road!
And some folk don't realise, that before the bridge junction (before the bend I mentioned, and where the incident happened)it's two lane, with no cycle lane.
