I'm now forty two years old and haven't met anyone in my adult life who has even heard of let alone listened to most of the bands I was into as a teenager. frown

I was into UK hardcore bands like Heresy, Electro Hippies, Chaos UK, Ripcord etc

I also liked the bigger US Thrash and HC bands but for sheer energy you couldn't beat the homegrown talent.

I have an Electro Hippies LP from years ago with a one second long track on it - I think it was called simply 'Armageddon' - not the easiest listening LP I have, I must confess !
Peel used to play quite a bit of them.
Not quite the same genre, but at the time I used to like Einstürzende Neubauten, SPK and Feotus stuff - noisy industrial music.

Loved Heresy (some of their stuff was released on a 5CD Grindcore set from Earache a few years ago along with stuff from Bolt Thrower, Napalm Death and Godflesh).

I grew up with rock & metal, never really bothered with punk or hardcore until Napalm Death released Scum, then I delved a little deeper into that side. Mostly though it was Heresy, Napalm, Metal Duck and Carcass that grabbed me. Bits of Exploited and Anti-Nowhere League, too. Generally though, I mostly looked for new Thrash and Death Metal stuff.

Same as Animal in that I grew up in more metal waters, but that did sometimes cross over into UKHC territory, usually via the Strange Fruit and Manic Ears compilations. Was only about 13 at the time, so never got in as deep as I subsequently did with the metal underground a few years later, but always enjoyed stuff like Intense Degree, ENT and of course the mighty Crippens

Saw loads of the grindcore bands at Bradford Queens Hall and the 1 in 12, did some work for Peaceville, toured with the Instigators.

Happy days.
