rear seats & belts
Discussion
Whats the usual way of putting back seats & seatbelts into a Jago? I've just bought one with bucket seats but i'd like to change them for matching front & rear seats out of something like a Suzuki jeep.
The V5 has it down as a Jago pickup with 2 seats - would this cause any problems legally???

OK the V5 should really be changed to indicate it has rear seats fitted ie "Saloon". Whether you want to bother is your choice. The "legal" bit may be at MOT time if the tester requires the V5 before the test.
The method I would suggest regards fitting of the rear seat is to ensure that any fixings go into or as I did on T4x4 when I replaced the thing that was pretending to be a rear seat through the main chassis rails at the back of the vehicle. That way you know that the seat is secure.
In the back of T4x4 I used one of a pair of side seats from a Daihatsu Four Trak. Only I mounted it facing forward in T4x4 so the back of the seat is close to the back of the body tub.
This allows two people to sit in reasonable comfort with the advantage with no one in the back the base of the seat folds up against the back so increasing the cargo area to near max capacity again. I made up extra framework around the seat to (a) line it up with the main chassis rails so holding it down secure and (b) gives a solid enough point to mount any form of belts to.
If your Jago has the rear braces on the roll bar then it may be possible to fit part of the seat belt system to that. However the thing to remember is the rear braces were not tested as being suitable for seat belt anchourage so whether that would have any legal aspects to it I do not know. After all the base of it is reasonably secure if it is the one designed at the factory in that there is a flat metal plate welded to the chassis that the rear mount of the brace bolts to. The problem is if someone has added the rear braces and they are just fixed to the body tub.

No T4x4 is still being rebuilt/modified so is currently SORN'd. Hopefully all being well some time next year it will be finished.
No changing an item on the V5 such as rear seats should not incur a SVA test as it should be just the same as an engine change or colour change.
I will try to scan you the pictures of the rear seat prior to fitment in T4x4.
