Hi all. yesterday evening when I was coming back from a friend and I found my self at the scene of an attempted car jacking that took place seconds before I arrived. The victims were punched and injured and thrown from the car. The gentleman was punched in the face and his wife was in shocked and clearly very distressed by the whole incident.
This happened in my local area woodford green in north east London. The car was 2013 mercedes E350cdi convertible. Luckily the car was not stolen because they could not drive off for some reason.

I believe this is something that could be on the increase.

SO THIS GOES OUT TO ALL CAR OWNERS AND ESPECIALLY OWNERS OF NEWER CARS: KEEP YOUR DOORS LOCKED!!!

I had a guy walk Into the middle of the road and point a gun at me in an attempted car jacking. That'll give your heart a work out.

Probably your fear of 'car-jacking' has just increased, having witnessed it first hand. I'm not sure there's any actual evidence this type of crime is on the increase. I suspect most crims would rather break into your house and pinch your keys rather than engage in conflict like this. But that's just my opinion, no particular evidence to support.

No doubt this kind of situation would be very distressing but these are surely very very isolated incidents. I'm not about to start living in fear and using the auto-lock feature 'just in case'.

If you're going down that route you may as well go all the way and have one of those flamethrowers installed. shoot

Thank god you cleared that up. I thought the OP had stumbled across a poor couple having their car elevated half a foot for maintenance and/or repair purposes.
