I have a soft spot for buying my kids toy cars, Hotwheels and Matchbox etc.
We have an understanding that when we find ones we haven't got we buy them BUT they need to be real cars i.e not the made up fantasy ones and i have to have an interest or understanding of them.
So we try to get more european cars, which is hard as both companies are american i think now,so the large majority seem to be also.

My parents still have me and my brothers collection from the 80's - 90's and it is full of Escort cabrios and mini's etc etc. The majority of our collection now seems to be largely U.S Muscle cars and high end european cars. The days of run of the mill UK cars seem to be over, which i think is a shame.

Anyone else have a soft spot for toy cars? (i do let the kids play with them!)

Also does anyone know of any good stockists as it is hard to find shops with a large selection to choose from?

And finally does anyone know of any good quality metal accessories, like car transporters etc.
The ones i buy tend to be plastic and don't last very long!

Reading it back i can see what it looks like lol, they are for the kids but if i see any we haven't got and i like them, i feel compelled to buy them. I'm not precious with them, all i ask is that they don't smash them into each other or destroy them.
So in anwser to your question, they are for all our enjoyment.

When I was a lad I had quite a lot of Majokit. Wasn't metal, but seem to recall it was reasonably good quality and quite realistic. Especially the dropped kerbs and sign posts. Made by a French (I think) firm called Majorette. No idea if it's still available, but I'm sure there must be some out there somewhere.

I remember having boxes full as a young boy. Mainly Matchbox, Corgi and Majorette. Probably 5000+

Them modern stuff looks crap to be honest. But the stuff made by Siku still look very good.
