The Beast was loaded onto a flat bed this morning and is on her way. I'll post updates in the owners car section I guess.

Should know more on Monday in terms of the damage, can't see me getting the car back before the new year but I am planning on taking the opportunity to do some other bits like the wheels.

Once again, thanks to al for your concern and for all the help I got on the day.

All the best, hope it's not too wallet wilting, but do watch out for that "while we're at it" syndrome, it can spread very quickly to all parts of a car...

Hope you get it back soon mate. My Elise is still stuck in the bodyshop and has been for over a month now. Getting serious withdrawal symptoms but all being well I should have it back next weekend.

Not fair, I made at least four or five before it all went wrong!

Cost wise I will know this week. I work on the principle that roughly speaking the louder and more horrible the bang, the more it will cost. All I know is that the noise I heard sent my flexible friend running for cover and frankly he is still cowering in the corner looking nervous!

Well, the verdict is in. Car should be back with me mid Jan. The big end went, the only question left to answer is the state of the pistons. If they are clear, then the bill is around the 4k mark. If they are gone, the bill goes up a bit - as in selling organs time!
