Hi all.

Sent off my V5 with copy of tax disc & the MOT cert last week. This morning I have received the new V5 document with my new registration on, but not the tax disc.

Can I still drive on the old registration? Old registration is NOT showing up on DVLA car check site, but the new one is?

Need to use the car today, and need to know what to do in case of a tug from the police!

It's not a problem, you're taxed, the new disk and MOT should arrive in the next couple of days.

It was always the case with local offices that they posted the disk and MOT out, then a few weeks later the V5 would arrive from Swansea. Now, with CTs being done by Swansea it is a lucky dip which arrives first.

Do I keep going on the previous reg, or pop the new one on and inform insurance co?

Definitely inform insurance company - they usually charge an admin fee of between £20 and £40

Right. Insurer's website won't let me make the change online.

They're not open to phone until monday.

Will I have problems driving on the old plates?

No. The info that the police use for things like ANPR is a cached copy a couple of days old anyway. Worst case if you get stopped and explain what has happened you'll be fine.

Because I tend to drive quite early in the morning at times, I have been pulled once of twice for a little chat when I have got a new car and transferred the plate.

it is usually fine. I have only come across one knob of a a traffic cop who just decided to be arsey. (In true PH style he was later told to apologise, which he did.)

What I have done since just in case it keep a load of documentation in the car. Both parts of the license, V5 - any bits from the DVLA. I did it earlier this year with a car - when we had a local DVLA office. The kind lady there jsut hand wrote on a document that the plate had been transferred.
