We currently have a 2 year old daughter, with another on the way next year.

When she was born we bought the Octavia (a 2006 model) as it fit the bill perfectly. It has a massive boot and space in the back, 4 doors, comfortable, cheapish to run, a few toys, looks good (in my opinion - different enough to the 'normal' models and is fairly quick.

Thing is, we were on a fairly tight budget when we bought it 2 and a half years ago. I was starting my own business and things have now started to pick up, i am starting to get pretty busy and I fancy a change.

We got the Octavia, very cheap indeed for the year, this is probably mainly because of the high mileage it had, but fairly confident that I could still sell it for pretty much what I paid for it.

Thing is, if I do replace it - what with??

I cannot think of any other car that offers everything that the Octavia does.

Budget is about £8k and MPG isn't too much of an issue.

Top of the list at the mo is an Audi S4, as part of me really fancies a V8, although this isn't completely necessary as long as it has some poke. I must point out at this point that I do not want an estate. Unfortunately, as much as I try, I cannot seem to bring myself to 'like' estates. Must be something to do with a all of the sheds that my dad had when I was younger, which were all estates...

I also seem to be a bit different in that I actually like a car to look different enough from the standard model, so have looked at the E39 M5, but it doesn't really do it for me unfortunately.

Sometimes I think an Impreza WRX would fit the bill, but I feel like i have grown out of something like that now (33 in a couple of weeks)

Hmmm....

LOL, Not much else to offer then? Looks like i'll be sticking with the Octavia for a while yet.

Just not a big fan of the Mazda unfortunately.

Insignia VXR? Not sure if these are in budget, but V6, 300Bhp, AWD and available in hatch and estate form, I think?

Look past the badge and I believe they're pretty decent, if not exactly economical...

How about a Subaru Outback? Ours has been faultless as a family car.

What do and don't you like about the Octavia?
