First post, so "Hi All"

TVR Power advertise a number of upgrades for the Rover V8, in my case a 4L Chimp (yes, a blue one). They seem well respected around here, but their site:
www.tvrpower.co.uk/upgrades.php really doesn't help me decide whether to do this, or which one. Has anyone had any of the offered upgrades ?
Did you get BHP figures before and after or was the difference so obvious ?
Or are the blue ones so much faster than the other colours that I should save my money ?

Also, how about insurance - did you tell them, and did they raise your premium?

Thanks in advance
P

My advice would be to drive the car and get some use out of it before spending money on it (unless something is worn out/broken).
Then get some decent dampers and take it on a track with a bit of coaching thrown in.

An alternative would be to trade in the 4L chim against a 5L if you want a power upgrade. At least that way it is a higher power standard car rather than a modified car from an insurance point of view.

I don't know if the 5L cars have upgraded brakes and suspension as standard aswell (which would be an added bonus). I also don't know what the cost difference would be, but it may be worth looking into.

All post '96 cars have same brakes and dampers etc.
If you have just bought a 4.0 litre then trading up to a 5.0 litre would be pretty pointless at this stage and the costs would be similar to getting a power upgrade on the 4.0 litre. Don't bother.

Thanks for the comments. Though I'm new to pistonheads I have had the Chimp for a few years now. But as you mentioned, engine mods when she doesn't seem to need any work done may not be the best choice.

I'm not sure I could simply swap my Chimp for another one; favourite "proper" upgrade for me right now would be a T350, but I'm waiting for some better news on the S6's reliability so I doubt this will happen 'til well into next year.

Maybe the track time and coaching as an Xmas gift to myself in the meantime...

Cheers

Have had the TVR Power Taraka upgrade on my 5L -- stonking good fun and gets more drivable every day.

Cannot say a bad word about Jamie and Dom -- really know their stuff and will explain and think about any questions you have.

Power corrupts and TVR Power corrupts absolutely ...
