But Mummy they're horrible.

I don't like veg much, but it's quite important for my health that I eat it, how can I make it more inviting?
How can I make it more edible without drowning it in some kind of fat, salt, gravy etc? Is it possible?

Or do I need to? Is deep fried veg, mash with butter, milk and cubed Pancetta, roasties in goose fat ok or is it kind of knocking the edge off it's healthyness?
I'm confused, I need recipes.
I need your help culinary PHers...

Depends on the vegetable - correct amount of seasoning and amount of cooking. Most veg you can get away with without covering it in butter, etc, but they do taste a lot better - buttered spring greens and brussell sprouts for example!

Just man and up and eat them you ponce hehe

Honestly though, there is a theory that there is only a certain number of times you can eat something and not like it, after that you just get used to it. This is what I did, for some reason I went off veg in my pre-teen years and only rediscovered them due to going out with a veggie at 19 hehe All I did was just eat them, regardless of whether I didnt like them or not, now I eat practically anything.

Start with little portions, work your way up to bigger ones. Remember that you are a man and never turn them down, lest you be defeated by vegetables.

And seriously, once you do get on with it you will realise how pathetic "Ohh none for me thanks, I don't like vegetables" sounds.

Oh I'm not saying I don't eat them, I do. I'm just looking for some inspiration as to how to make them a bit more tasty and if possible, without making them less healthy.

Roasting veg helps, we used to roast them for our then 13 year old boy, loves them now.

Yes I agree, but roast them in what? I had some success with olive oil, garlic, sesame seeds etc, but it's the addition of the oil that concerns me.
I think it's difficult to get away from the fact that 'fat is flavour'.

Partly this:

Partly learn to cook them better - many green vegetables are nicer steamed in the microwave with a little water so they still have crunch.

Otherwise you can slather them with a sauce, like blue cheese sauce with broccoli, but that is more hassle/a bit of a last resort.

I think the answer is to steam them and not overcook. Steaming retains the flavours, while boiling is just horrible. School boiled cabbage... hurl

Never been a huge fan of greens, I put it down to being when I was a child and my parents forcing me to eat them and they were pretty vile.

What's wrong with butter? I thought we'd got past the "fat is bad" bunkum?

If you like garlic, just add garlic.

That's all the French seem to do.
