Considering both. Who's driven either/both and what do you think.

I would go for the Lexus. Quite different cars but the Lexus is probably less disappointing than the Alfa i.e. actually does what you expect from it.
You expect the Alfa to be sporty and exciting when it really isn't. You expect the Lexus to be reliable, nicely made and but perhaps a little dull. Which it is.
And to these eyes, the Lexus is actually the nicer looking car.

Lexus
probably not going to go wrong and even with the diesel is nicely refined place to be. Depends what you are looking for of course, but I'd be having an IS250 + slush box and heated seats and just wafting everywhere. The suspension is somewhat firm, but feels sufficiently damped. It doesn't crash into pot holes, but can be a bit pitter-pattery on some knobbly surfaces. I can only speak from experience of the diesel though which likely has different spring settings to cope with the anvil in the front.
It is very pokey inside though, I thought the windscreen was especially small to look out of. Like looking out of a post box.

I'm 99.9% certain they share the same spring rates as the diesel is a 4 pot all aluminium engine and the 250 is an all aluminium V6probably not going to go wrong and even with the diesel is nicely refined place to be. If you get the Lexus (And I wouldn't) get the water pump changed ASAP!
They all seem to leak, but the leak is difficult to see. My GS350 blew its' seal on the highway and I simply had no idea it was blowing out coolant until the engine started to rattle and then failed 6 seconds later. These cars lack a low coolant warning and the temp gauge never read high.

Am very used to coolant level paranoia. My other car is an MG TF.They all seem to leak, but the leak is difficult to see.
