Alfa 147 Ducati Corse tyre confusion...
Discussion
Hi, all
I seem to remember a little bit of confusion about 18 months ago when I changed my tyres - there was a discrepancy between the launch details of the car and what it said in the handbook. The sizes were 215 40 18's in the manual and 225 40 18's in the launch spec. As there seemed to be no definitive answer at the time I, in conjunction with the guy in the garage, plumped for what it said in the manual. Fast-forward to today and I go online to look again as my fronts are getting low and all the "Input your reg here" sites have the 225's listed alone. Have I been running on the wrong tyres? Does anyone else have the same mini-dilemma? Does this belong in the "first world problems" thread over in the lounge?
At the moment I'm thinking to go for the larger tread tyre as it's a) the one listed and b) about 30% cheaper tyre-for-tyre. Feel free to yell at me if that's a horrific mistake to make!

As above, there's almost no difference in the radius at 215...225 is 2% out which will show you traveling a massive 1mph more at 60...so not much in it either way, but the 215 is nearer.
Think we're running 215s but can't check because the wheels aren't on the car at present (winter wheels).
