I've never come across this before, but today my wife has been asked by a couple of companies to provide evidence of her driving license. Is this common practice?

The problem for her is that it is still in her maiden name as she hasn't got round to (read keeps forgetting to) doing it yet

It's certainly not uncommon when someone has zero NCB and they are being offered a strong introductory NCB.

This has just happened to me. I've had to send photocopies of both mine and my wife's (as she's a named driver) DL. I have 15+ yrs NCB.
I've never heard of it before. I was given 7 days or face further charges.

Happens a lot with bike insurance; photocopies of photocard and paper counterpart for all riders.

Is it so dificult to send them in at the same time as your ncd?

It is when the name on her license is different to the one she has on her insurance certificates...

Maybe a chat with them to say she is updating her license (she is now this has happened) might either a) give her a bit more time or b) accept the 'old' license with maiden name on
