Well as the title says really.... I recently sold my Boxster 987 thinking it was comming up to winter and it would not get much use and what a sensible person I am. I sold it and did a deal on a 57 plate R56 cooper S JCW, with all the nice carbon bits inside and out plus some nice and expensive optional extra factory fit recaros and I thought that would keep me happy. The mini is a lovely car, it's pretty quick, surprisingly economical and cheap to run ( I just fitted 2 new tyres on the front and a major service and was cheaper than 2 rear tyres for the porsche) but and this is the problem, I miss the porsche. So I can't decide do I bite the bullet and admit I made a mistake, flog the mini and look for another boxster or possibly a cayman or do I stick with it the mini. I guess the deciding factor is what is the mini worth ? I did a deal against my porsche so I know what it owes me but looking online prices vary so much do I'm confused as to what is realistic to ask.
2007 "57" Cooper S JCW
63,000
Red / black
Recaro seats
Nice spec with lots of extra bits so what is it worth ? I feel I may have made an expensive mistake :/

That's gorgeous. They're great cars to drive and really get under your skin.
Porker is great too but I think if I were you I'd give the Mini a good long chance.

NIce, give it time. Suspect the problem might be that you tried to replace the Boxster which, to be honest, is always going to be difficult. When I sold mine, I bought a stty Merc 190 so no comparison but I know where you're coming from, those Boxsters really get under your skin..

Good luck with whatever you decide!

Well I used to have another cooper S which was my track car which is why I thought I would be happy with the newer version. The R53 had 260-280bhp, a quaife LSD and a spare set of snowprox tyres and went everywhere and I mean everywhere. My porsche sat on the drive absolutely stuck.

^ my old car

Thanks guys it is a lovely car & those pics are from earlier today after a good clean but as much as I like it it's not my Porsche. Just depends what it's worth to wether it is even an option financially for me. What do you guys reckon ?

Buy a cayman s - unless you love top down motoring...

I've got no clue about minis - so take this with a pinch of salt - but autotrader suggests around £6k

Nice car but who would spec to that degree and not put a chilli pack on ? I sold my boxster and got an abarth. Still happy with the car and the running costs smile

That's a fabulous looking Mini. Stick with it till spring, if your still not keen, move on. But give it at least a few months to get to know it. smile

If you don't like it - change it.

I lost a bunch of cash on a 135i I sold after 6 months.
But, it was a better decision than keeping the car and not enjoying it.
It would have just keep depreciating so I would have lost the money anyhow, if you see what I mean.
So I just lost the cash now and swapped the car rather than keep the car and lose the cash later.

I don't even like these things that much, but that one looks mega. And they do sound rather like a Caterham when you're giving them some..

Another vote to stick at it. Even if you still don't like it, at least you'll have time to think what's next and won't have made two expensive mistakes in quick succession!

You've fallen for the old...
Porsches aren't that good.
Modern manufacturers can produce lots of cars that look good, the mini sort of apes Porsche, look at the lights, the steering wheel etc.
Its new etc.

But its no Porsche.

Sell it.
Buy yourself a cayman.
And then next time, get yourself a 911.
All the other cars are just appliances.

LOL

Yeah I know what you are saying. Just depends if it's financially viable to get rid & worth it as it is a good car so don't want to give it away.

fettle the mini

stick on the LSD
stick a blower on it to bring power up to 280+

razz is for a while

if you get another boxter so soon you will be comparing it to the last and it will not be the same

If the dealer still has your porker, call and see if a deal can be done? Just remember to bite hard on the leather strap as you listen to how much prep went in on your old car and how the guide shows the mini values are not holding up well in the run up to Christmas etc etc...
