Strange thing happened today. I always fold the exterior mirrors in using the two mirror selection buttons when I park the car and cover it. I then unlock the car after uncovering it and again, unfold the mirrors with the buttons when I get in.

However today, when I unlocked the car, the mirrors automatically unfolded ready to drive. I had not even opened the door.

I would have thought this would be a nice feature to have, locking folding the mirrors and unlocking visa versa, but this is the first time it has actually happened. I could not get it to do it again either.

Should a DB9 have this feature or was my car having a funny fit?

Just in case this helps.

The mirrors on my Vantage fold-in when I press Lock on the Emotion whatsit, and fold-out when I press Unlock.

This automatic feature was probably an option.

I think the handbook explains alternative choices, with regard to whether the mirrors move automatically, or not.

The DB9 mirror fold on locking has to be activated using WDS or AMDS,you can also select tilting when in reverse.Strange it activated by itself.

Well, I finally got to the bottom of this.

When purchasing the car in June, I got the car home and put it on the maintenance charger but it never went to green, even after almost a week. So I used my digital battery tester and it gave the main vehicle battery a poor state of health. I therefore installed a new Bosch 90Ah silver top battery. This has been fine, going to green on the charger after a couple of hours.

Anyway, after getting fed-up with the mirrors having a mind of their own, and more recently, my windows needing resetting every time the car was left for 24 hours, I decided to get everything looked at under my AM warranty.

I have to say, I am very pleased with the warranty now with no "thats normal wear and tear sir" bullst you normally get with used car warranties.

The final outcome was..............the door modules had lost their coding, probably due to battery voltage going very low. Now my mirrors fold as soon as the car is locked (which they have NEVER done before), and unfold after unlocking the car, and putting the key in the ignition. I also had the rear window demister button replaced as it felt like a wet sponge rather than a switch, the faulty PDC was diagnosed as a rear sensor which was painted and replaced, the windows now drop correctly when opening the doors, and the high level brakelight has now been refitted, instead of hiding in the boot cavity.

There seems to be some voltage issue with the new Bosch battery too now at 6 months old, so I am replacing it tomorrow with one of the brand new Duracell AGM Gel batteries, 92Ah capacity, which should hopefully finally solve my voltage issue.

Full marks to Chiltern Aston Martin for a great service, and full marks to Aston Martin for a worthwhile warranty product.

FM radio is still crap though! I can live with CD's anyway.

Good move on the AGM battery
These cars really don't like boarder line batteries frown

I hope to have that covered! My standalone DAB tuner transmits its recieved signal in FM so my stock car tuner can recieve it. I just tune the car radio into the DAB tuner signal and I get all the info through the normal car radio.

At least the car nearly lasted 48 hours without a fault, mainly because it has been parked.

Now the roof (Volante) shows roof movement paused with a piercing alarm in both the open and closed position.

Back to AM again tomorrow.

If I had wanted this reliability, I would have bought a 20 year old TVR!
