KITS AT NEC CLASSIC
Discussion
As we headed towards the NEC for day one it was clear that this was going to be a crazy 3 days. 2 miles of traffic blocked the exit from the M42 as thousands waited to see 11 huge halls jammed packed with exhibits. Over 60,000 people filled the isles and just half way through the first day we realised that we needed 1000's more leaflets. Pity they don't have a "pronto print" at the NEC!
This show is evidence that the economy is on the up, big time. Cash was flowing over the tool stalls and auction results were shocking. Mike Brewer and Ed China had them 20 deep at the live stage and the "wall of death" was packed. So how did MEV fit in? This show is huge, every classic car you could imagine was present.
Never before in the history of MEV have we attracted so much attention, a constant and sometimes dizzying stream of questions were thrust at us for 3 days solid. The classic car enthusiasts really did get it. Modern mechanicals under the skin of that classic shape was embraced and enjoyed by everyone. Not a single negative comment all weekend. Even the older guys with AMOC on their ties were complimentary. We opened so many eyes to the fascinating world of kit cars and I have absolutely no doubt that orders will flood in as a result of this amazing experience.
I spoke to Richard at GBS and they were very busy, so too were Chesil.

and the industry and let's hope that the classic car enthusiast starts really looking at kitcars, with modern mechanicals and classic inspired designs.Great news, anything that showcases what's best in the Kit Car Industry has to be applauded.
As for clssics with modern mechanics I always thought that an Autounion D type body on the Edge Devil (audi based) chassis would be a great track day tool, especially with a 4.2l v8 in the back. Over to you Stuart !

Totally agree, & given the way classic prices are going, the only way most of us will be able to afford anythng like one.
