Whats your motivation?
Discussion
Im 'into' fitness, i do regular excersise and am in pretty good shape, but i know i could do better.
I either finish an exercise early (run 20/30 mins when i could do an hour) or put off a work out all together.
Im not trying to impress anyone, my GF is happy with how i am, im never out of breath or struggle in day to day stuff.
but, i want to loose that last little bit of body fat and tone up a bit more. but i find it a lot easier to switch the telly on, sit and snack/drink.
What do you use for motivation, and what would you suggest for me?
Any help much apreciated.
P.s. ive do all my workout at home, have treadmill, mutli gym, weights etc. i think what stops me is as its always there is too easy to 'do it tommorow'

I've worked out/exercised very regularly since my teens - not quite sure what the motivation is but it's strong. I do like having that extra fitness/strength edge over others, I like being in shape and it makes activities easier, especially new ones.
Now I'm 38, vanity has become almost irrelevant.

What got you into fitness in the first place? Now I'm 38, vanity has become almost irrelevant.
My motivation has changed over the years since I first started training.
I spent most of my teenage years being pretty skinny, despite having a decent degree of natural strength. So when I first started training, my goal was simply to get bigger.
I'm now 34, and I've no real desire to get any bigger than I am, but I DO want to keep getting stronger, and increase my level of fitness.
Unlike the OP, I don't find it easier to sit and watch the telly rather than train. Training and physical activities are a big part of my life and, if I'm being honest, what keeps me sane.
I'd be lying if I said that the aesthetics are an irrelevance to me, though

I once was 'fat'. I shall never be that again.
I'm a personal trainer. I have plans to go far with it. I really enjoy helping others be stronger versions of themselves.
I understand what Arnold meant about it feeling better than cumming. (I'm not saying I agree, I'm saying I understand).

I was very active anyway (surfed a lot, did Surf Life Saving events, had done a fair bit of martial arts) but I weighed the same as an electron. So while fit, I got blown over by a strong breeze - that was when I decided to do something about it - three years later I was three stone heavier. That was a bit much and I got into running and more into cycling so trimmed off a stone - just spent a near lifetime trying to balance fitness with strength. To be totally honest, a wee dash of small man syndrome (I'm 5'8") and a general interest in training.
I'm getting old now but still enjoy being able to sustain a sub six minute mile (running), do a decent hard cycle, swim a mile in open water, not get tired surfing for two hours and manage utterly pointless but fun gymnastic stuff like a seated lever pushed into a handstand, handstand press ups, a flag held for a while, etc. Just like being an "all rounder" I guess.
Sorry, I withered on a bit as usual...
