if you're thinking of air over the intercooler it won't work. I've done it. I made up a scoop with the front edge of the scoop halfway along the roof there's still no extra air going over teh cooler, even at up to 100mph. The air "bounces" off the windscreen up and over the roof. If you want to capture the air flowing up off of the screen you have to have the front edge of your scoop protrude at least 3-4 inches beyond the top edge of the screen. Thats why the mercedes etc do it.

The MR2 Turbo boys drag air in from the side of the roof, do you think this would help?
Martin.

no that will not work. Simon at Reverie has one of these for the Lotus 340. In order to work it has to sit at least 3-4 inches away from the bodywork and out of the laminar airflow over the car. I was there when he was doing the same for forced induction on an S2 Elsie. we had data loggers rigged up and air pressure sensors all over the car and it had no effect whatsoever. This guys one will have no effect whatsoever.

I believe the intercooler on Lee's car are now two, one above each rear wheel and the air is fed in from the side pods - I assume this is more effective, however does anyone know if these are charge cooled? As opposed just air to air like the original sigle one?

They are mounted (or were earlier in the year) vertically in front of the rear wheels with venting above and around the rear wheels to pull air through them. Air to Air.

Not much point butchering your car to emulate the race car until they settle on a solution they are happy on. Given the continuing changes I'd guess this hasn't happened yet.

In fact Lee has three, the two new ones and the original all plumbed together. They are all air to air.
I asked an intercooler specialist in the states to advise and he said there were only two ways to imporve things,1) more air over the core, 2) an air to water setup.
The GT car apparently had two fans on the back of the core that just ran all the time.

After our discussion on saturday about ducting more air in, is there a possibility of getting some air from the spoiler (a la 911) ? Maybe there is air to be caught from the ends of the wing. It would be extraordinarily ugly tho. !!!
