Keeping motivated during notice period
Discussion
I'm working my three months notice having resigned at the end of October and I've still got two and half months to go.
All motivation has now disappeared and my boss seems oblivious to the fact i'm leaving.
The last time I was in this situation (about five years ago) my employer at that time asked me to finish all client work I was currently working on (which took about a month), gave me mundane admin tasks for a month and then told to stay at home for the final month. As a complete contrast this time my boss is trying to get working on projects which will last well past me leaving and additionally make new contacts who will 'witness' me leaving and have their relationship with the firm disrupted.
I don't want to upset my boss (he's been good to me over the last five years) but i'm feeling a bit demob happy.
Should I just 'man up' and knuckle down? or are they expecting too much from someone with effectively one foot out the door?

Key phrase - take it literally !Being on notice doesn't mean it it OK to get out of working.

You said it.Do you expect your full salary at the end of the month ?
Stop trying to shirk, the 3 months will pass more quickly if you keep working.

I hadn't read it as trying to shirk, simply that the new work will actively damage client relationships because the key contact will wander off early on.Do you expect your full salary at the end of the month ?

I would suggest to your boss that you are happy to support someone else starting those projects, and effect a good handover that way. Are you taking annual leave as cash, or time off?

Sorry if it came across like that, I'm far from a shirker. As suggested I'm more along the lines of I'm happy to support others to do my job, just not take the lead on assignments otherwise its just building up to all fall down when I do eventually go. The problem is that we are a fairly small organisation so there is no one internally who will directly replace me going forward and I understand that the recruitment process wont start until the new year. All suggestions I have made regarding work load and replacements have however fallen on deaf ears.
Yes I do want to get paid, and have no issues actually working for that pay, but at the end of the day I know I wont be here come February the motivation is just not there like it was in the past. Now maybe this is down to the fact that if I know I work hard its more likely to all fall down whereas if I slow up and take my time over things they will naturally have to be dealt with by someone else.
