Dave Taylor - current owner of the ex-Mick Hill/Doug Niven VW Beetle V8 Supersaloon had his trailer stolen, and in the trailer are body parts for the Beetle, which is a one-off iconic 1970's Super Saloon. Also in there were the cars wheels.

The trailer is a covered jobby with blue sheeting. See the Facebook page. For those not on FB, post on here and I'll try to get more info copied over.

According to his Daughter, the reg plate last used on the trailer is A 11 DET

If you find the persons responsible for this, please help them up the stairs and back down again. Thieving scrotes!

If you've seen it, or any of the parts, please contact your local police station.

Sorry to hear this.

A few years ago, my trailer containing my entire racing car and the spare wheels was stolen.

Thanks to a stroke of genius on someone else's part, I got my local paper to run a 'racing car stolen, 5 grand paid for recovery' article and within a few days I had two 's on my doorstep asking for a grand in exchange for the whereabouts of my car and a lack of involvement on the part of the constabulary.

OK, so I paid the thieving bds a grand for stealing my car and giving it back to me - and never got the trailer back (much easier to sell you see) - but the trailer was replaceable whereas the car was not.

Just a thought.

As I understand it, the Lancashire Telegraph are running an article on it today.

does it have a tyre rack on the front outside of the cover?

I only ask as I saw a similar on the A1 going northbound near huntingdon, Cambridgeshire - it had an external tyre rack on it though

That must of stung a bit ? a similar thing happened to a chap that used to race in the AMOC Intermarque, he had a lovely Aston built by Marsh Plant Hire, it was stolen from a hotel/travelodge car park the night before a meeting.

He also offered a reward and even appeared on tv, look North or something, he got it back, found in a lock up garage, it was also seen being ragged up a motorway in the early hours.

He mentioned the car never really felt the same afterwards and decided to sell it.

Track cars are worth so much in parts, and a lot end up being broken, the Beetle does look a bit more unusual so some hope for its return.
