Hi People ive had my 89 F 350i for about 5 years and its been in storage pretty much since i bought it. unfortunately some tosser broke into the lock up and thought it would be a great idea to smash the windscreen and the passangers drop glass ( i got off lightly as my friends mk2 granada ghia X pack with 45000k got every window done) anyway looking for some help as shes a bit tired but im going to do as much as i can over winter inc paint and mechanicals and then an MOT hopefully in may. Im in glasgow just need pointing in the right direction of some parts and advise, was a member before but not been on i 3 years and forgot my previous log ins!!

There are some right sh!theads about frown

Windscreens can still be had brand new, might be worth checking your car insurance if you have any as you can often have a screen replaced free (or free-ish) without it affecting your no-claims.

There are a couple of breakers, one of whom advertises wedge bits on Ebay but he has a serious laugh with his prices.

Cheers Ian I've seen tvr dean and it looks like he's got 1 that would do the job think he may be your neck of the woods? I wasn't impressed when I discovered it but it happens just an extra job/expense!! They also stole the battery and cut the battery posts off and now I can't find the earth wire!!!!!! If anyone can show me a picture of the battery area in a wedge it would be appreciated!!!

Id be putting the word about. Bound to find someone like that. Then ease the money out of them without having to go down the insurance/legal/pay up or need a skin graft route.

Just saying like!!!

Scum everywhere, unfortunately. Wedge and Mk2 Granny in the same lock-up!

If the lock-up is remote, there are several cost effective systems for triggering an alarm to your phone. Don't need site power either.

Autog**** are cowboys. The last job they done for me they messed it up and stole my credit card details too. I wouldn't trust them with my shoes. I had no end of problems with them. Also like everything else not every Wedge glass is glass. They can be cheapies, the ones that go milky round the edges and de laminate in a short space of time.

Paul the glass man fitted mine a while back and the one he took off were one of those cheapies. He fitted proper Pilkington glass for me, same as what TVR fit originally, but prepared to pay around 500 notes.

Yes, Glassman lives just down the road from me and he is an excellent guy. The type of person that takes pride in his work and he so friendly, I could chat with him all day long. Also, he is not money grabbing and is negotiable depending on what needs doing. I strongly recommend him as he will not rest until the job is done properly. He fitted the glass for me on my previous Wedge and I was well pleased. All the best.

Tony.

I can say I've been more amused at other things happening!!! Car safely in my new garage at home thankfully! Surrounded by a new kitchen that's getting fitted this weekend then I can get in about getting her running again! If anyone can put on a picture of engine bay looking at battery area would be great!

Not fab pictures but the best I can find... the earth cable is 1m long and has a batt terminal on one end and an eyelet on the other. It connects the batt -ve to one of the bellhousing bolts behind the engine.

Thats brilliant thanks for taking the pictures much appreciated!!! Going out to the garage now to inspect!! I'm guessing that the +ve red cable goes down the drivers side of the engine to the alternator and the starter?

The +ve cable (which is black on the car in the photos) goes to the starter only, there's another pair of cables attached to the +ve battery clamp bolt that go to the fusebox/relay board inside the car - those cables are wrapped in black insulating tape in the pics. The alternator cabling is part of the main loom back out from the fusebox/relays.

I'm not sure why the +ve cables are black on this car; TVR wiring at it's best!

i have a feeling that someone has upgraded mine at some point over the years so I actually have red and black (and brown) cables but as its been tampered with by some vandalising little C*$t its hard to see wahts going on, although ive not really been in the frame of mind or had the time to get stuck into it due to work commitments and a house move but I'm going to spend plenty of time on it over the next 5-6 months to get it right
