PS4 - Buying on release day?

I cancelled my pre-order of the PS4 as I didn't think I wanted one. However being a gadget freak, I've changed my mind and would quite like one now.

I know it's a long shot, but is there any way that I'm going to be able to walk into a shop and buy a PS4 on release day? Every where that I've called seems to be pre-order only.

If anyone has any ideas, I'd like to hear.

I think you'll be able to find one somewhere next Friday, lots of shops will want stock to put out on the shelves. They did sell out fairly quickly over the weekend in America though, so I'd get in as early as you can.

Sony think there will be plenty of stock to go around in the build-up to Christmas though:
