Seems that they're not satisfied with being paid up to £200,000 per annum to do f**k all. Now they're clogging up motorways with their tractors because they won't be allowed to chase foxes in all their new found leisure time.

Update - it's now got onto the BBC web site.

Hmm whats the correct expression - try walking a mile in your enemies shoes ?

I think given the recent problems with the farming industry and the fact that we have some of the highest food quality standards they have a difficult time making a living from marginal crops - especially with the buying power of the supermarkets.

If they want to chase foxes I am not going to stop them - as long as they let me snortcoke and chase women, we should get on fine

The action they are taking is the only was to get peoples attention. Petitions dont work, letters to your mp dont work, the press arent interested unless you take some kind of action,... shame (in my opinion and if the reports are right) that they are doing this over foxes and not something that matters.

I’m with the farmers on this one. They are protesting against the curtailment of their way of life by a control obsessed government intent on banning all forms of enjoyment while taxing us to death. I think farmers and PistonHeaders have something in common.

PH'ers and farmers having something in common, hmm, a lot of PH'ers drive TVR's, and farmers drive tractors, yes I see your point!

Just make sure you don't brake at the same time and slide in the dung..... YIKES!

But on a more serious note - how else can they put their point across?? Direct action seems to be the only thing BLiar will listen to..... we all raise a cheer when a tax camera gets smudged, so wots the difference here?

This has got f**k all to do with hunting and everything to do with screwing up the roads because you want to have a go at the government.

If everyone takes this stance you won't be able to drive anywhere because every day some protest group will be clogging up the roads to make their point.

Then we have to take "Direct Action", and run the BDS down!

Cant see that its got fcuk all to do with hunting, given that thats the reason they are protesting and all.

I agree with what has been said though, obviously knackering the road system is a little extreme but as BLiar doesnt give the farmers an adequate forum for feedback this is the only way they will be heard.

Added to which traffic is a favourite way of getting the governments attention and its not just the farmers either, London was recently ground to a halt because of an employments rights activist group.

More power to 'em....

If we could organise an anti-speed camera protest along similar lines (which has been talked about previously) we'd be getting further in our quest for the govt fcukwits to see some sense and to communicate our annoyance to Joe Pube-lick.

How about 500+ sportscars doing 100mph+ side by side (all lanes) down a particular gatsoed piece of motorway?????? That'd up any chance of a prosecution as the legal system would be more bolloxed than it already is?? or as the cheeseheads do, ALWAYS ask for proof etc etc on any Gatso NIP. Be obstructive/pedanticly inquisitive/know your rights, till last, paperwork KILLS bureaucrats if used properly........

Steve Harrison,

Precisely what gives you the right to miscall those of us who are farmers? Where in the real world are we to find £200,000 for doing nothing? And what makes you think we spend our time chasing foxes?

Your malevolent ignorance is on a par with the tree-huggers hatred of cars. I see you are a founder-member of the ABD. If that is the mindset of the average member you have certainly encouraged me to resign.

You might reflect upon the fact that prior to his full-time involvement in F1 Jim Clark was a tractor driver too.

I disagree with the protest for hunting in the way it was. But then I approved of the fuel protests. If the protest was against French imports then I would have approved. so horses for courses.
I buy british as much as I can or am aware. I buy local if possable.
A family friend farms a small bit of land, rearing beef calves for sale onwards and he's not rolling in it (money) and gets up at 4 or 5 to start, milk round as well to help. Really works for what little he gets.

Don't take me too seriously - I was up till 4am printing fliers for the ABD! I think nearly everyone in the farming world is getting a touch sensitive now, thanks to the endless negative spin.

One spin leads to another. We've had "speed kills" thrust down our throats until we're totally sick of it - now we have a goon of a Chief Constable spreading the good word in Aberdeen.

His "only fools speed" has led to stickers saying just that on the back of all Council-owned vehicles, and the more self-righteous citizens have taken to blocking the outside lanes of the dual carriageways.

Even the Meths doesn't help any more

McNab you have my total support.
Us wedge boyz need to stick together.
In fact ALL us free thinking, open minded, fair brained, life loving, freedom valuing boyz and girls NEED to stick together.
WAKE UP YOU IDIOTS, OUR ENTIRE WAY OF LIFE IS UNDER ATTACK! Today fox hunting, tomorrow sports cars, the day after that the right to travel when and where you want. All the while pay more tax, and watch some fecker of a beaurocrat piss the money away on the undeserving, the unspeakable and the unbelieveable.(all the while telling you its YOUR fault)
FOR GODS SAKE, SPEAK UP WHILE YOU STILL CAN.

Rant mode off now.

How long before someone in a decent sized 4x4 starts punting the do-gooders into the weeds..... sort of numptie culling season sort of thing.

Or how about - "only fools obey all the rules" as our slogan.
