Hi,

I have just had an e-mail from my dealer, that my "cat" is rattling which was picked up on the MOT. This was not an MOT failure but was picked up on the test.
Is this something I should be worried about? Is it expensive to replace? The dealer that I use, has stated that this is not covered on warranty. So should I then go back to the original dealer that sold me the car, 4000 miles and 10 months ago, regarding this issue? The car is MY07, but I wouldn't expect this to be a problem on a 36,000 mile car, would you?

yes

Have they told you whether the rattle is internal or possibly heat baffles?

You could try Bamford Rose. They should have a pile of good original manifolds that have the cats built in. But you may end up buying their upgrades smile

If it is the cat you should be worried about it. The cat material can start to disintegrate and be sucked back into the engine causing damage. Have a google.
