Wasn't this done earlier this week (and it was sold to a trader on the day it was advertised?). I seem to remember someone calling and the seller telling them their phone had been ringing off the hook about it.
Thats one of the earliest batch of cerbs... stay well clear - unless all the major engineering issues have been sorted in subsequent engine rebuilds etc.... .
Come on ASH don't talk crap, early cars are fine as long as they have been looked after. Yes the clutch is a pain when it goes, but the engine is brilliant and no more likely to break than a later car. And they weigh a lot less.

I have detailed files that show the number of AJP V8 engines that have been back to TVR across the years... back then - many did! Based on these official numbers - I dont think I'm talking crap old chap...
But like anything on internet forums - you wont believe it until it comes out of the horses mouth - and do you think it will?

Spot on! or the previous owners might not have really given it sum - meaning she just wasnt driven like she was designed to - so the unfortunate new owner puts his foot down - and crack/bang/splat...
I've also got numbers of how many are off the road for good (be it written-off or owner cant be arsed to get a new engine etc) - and most are 4.2's with a smaller number of early 4.5's following closely behind... Cerbera ownership is going to become an expensive hobby in the next year or 2 - I reckon we should all get together and as a club buy in these written of ones for spare parts - now that TVR have stopped building them, I've already noticed price hikes on certain components... and I've also noticed hourly labour charges increasing over the past year alone with indies as well as dealers...

Yes, and so would a thousand others - not a good idea sadly (I dont want to lose my agents!) ![]()
But if you ask the relevant chap at the Blackpool HQ, you could be indulged!...
I'm not sure how useful unfounded comments like that are
The early cars had problems with cams wearing out and needing replacing, and a couple have a had a snapped crank.
On the other hand, the only Cerbs that have ever come close to the 100,000 mile mark have been early 4.2s
Anyway, I think at the end of the day - you take a risk with all of them - no matter what history - something could go on you anytime... and if you havent had that happen yet - trust me, it will...
So is it true what I heard - that the last 100 griff 500's were the most reliable TVR's ever built?
