Am I the only person who has a dog that sleeps all day then, when the rest of the house has gone to bed, gets up and moves doors about? He's always done it and he is now 12. In his youth he might occasionally try eating one but this doesn't happen now, but I've got this old door that squeaks on its hinges and some nights I literally have to get out of bed, go into the kitchen and shout 'WHAT ARE YOU DOING!!' in my best angry voice. He's stood there bashing it with his nose until it gently swings back to him, then he does it again. It's not uncommon to find him shut in a room. Idiot.

No one of ours does this. We had him tested for dementia as some people say it is a symptom.

Our springer has always done this. She is obsessed with shadows and lights and she whacks the doors so as they close the create a reflection that she then tries to grab.

Does my fking head in. All our doors are scratched to hell because of this.

Always put it down to the fact the she is a Springer = Mental

Try oiling the hinge to stop the squeak? Or fit a new hinge if that doesn't work?

OP, you have two problems,

1, Dogs like squeaky things.

2, Your dog has a sense of humour.

This means you're screwed! laugh

We had one dog that was an utter bd when it came to squeaky toys, she would bite them gently enough to gain maximum squeakage then slowly open her jaws so it squeaked again as it re-inflated. I'm sure that she tried to play tunes with her squeaky toys at times, she would look after anything squeaky but the moment we removed the squeaky bit she would shred the toy.
