Will i fit in a kit car?
Discussion
Hi all,
I have been looking into various kit cars such as the Robin Hood 2b for a while and I am considering treating myself to one for Christmas (looking at a part build to finish) the problem I have is that I am 6ft 5 and quite round with it, would I fit?. I know the answer is to go and try a few but was hoping someone would have an idea before I start bothering sellers only to discover I don't fit!
Many thanks
Mike

A word of caution. Taking a 'part-built' though to completion, especially, but not only a R'Hood is becoming more and more difficult. IVA is always going to be a struggle with older design cars and making sure all the correct paperwork is with the car is often overlooked. It can be done and with the right research most pitfalls can be avoided. Just be careful and do the reading.Mike
Alternatively, look for a finished/registered car and strip/rebuild as a project.
Good luck

Thanks for that, I had been looking at a few which have been finished but haven't been put in for the test, I take it you need to be very careful with these?
Oh yes!
And remember, the test is the thick end of £500!!! With no guarantee of a Pass. There was a Sticky detailing the requirements to get a car on the road but it has gone. Do a search in here and look for 'IVA' and 'Registration' threads.
Post up some links to the adverts for the cars you have ben looking at. There is a wealth of knowledge in here and advice tends to come thick & fast!!
whereabouts in w/sussex are you?
we ( skcc ) are out and about most weekends ending up somewhere between Bexhill across to Cowfold ( as a guide )....
you'd be welcome to come along and join us at brekkie and see if you get anywhere near fitting in any of the cars.....
this sunday we'll be finishing at Bexhill - sovereign cafe on the sea front 9 a firm fav of ours)...and from memory although there isn't likely to be a RHood....there should be: GBS zero, westie, luego viento, tiger r6 and err can't recall who else is out! we'll be there i imagine around 09.00.
can't think of any rhood owners that down that way, we have a cple up here near Tonbridge/Sevenoaks....
if you can physically fit width ways there are things you can do to make it more drivable - moving teh steering column upwards, changing the pedals etc - so the key is get sat in 1 or 2 and see what's what....

i'm a smidge over 6ft1, with most of my height being in my legs, i was worried about fitting in a kit car too.
i went and viewed one and got in the passenger seat for a test drive and couldnt reach the bulkhead! in the drivers side i need to pull the seat forward slightly to be just right
but i imagine other kits differ dramatically, so your best off just trying to get in and see what its like. it may even be possible to modify it to fit you in if you dont already, but again, that depends on the kit
mines an MK indy btw
